Hi Sogs,
I actually supply L L Bean, Cabelas and Bass Pro Shop with all their house brand fly rods. I make them on the weekends at my secret under ground facility in Beijing, China. -- Bill Kiene-"spam me baby" Kiene's Tofu Fly Rods, LLC "odorless & tasteless" Beijing, China www.kiene.com "sogs" wrote in message ... There's actually a misconception that's been going around for many years
about LL Bean rods. The *high end* rods are made by Loomis--true. But the middle of the road rods were made (don't know if they still are or not) by St. Croix. And the low-end rods are made in the Far East. Beans wants (for obvious reasons) people to think that their rods are made by Loomis; but many of them aren't. That, by the way, doesn't make them bad rods--just not Loomis rods. Dave M "sogs" wrote in message ... Anyone know? |

As an extra bonus and to my surprise, the top fits perfect on my old (-92) G.Loomis IMX 15' # 10-11, on which i broke the tip last year. Now the IMX casts superbly with a #9 line. - Richard (from Northern Norway, the land of the Midnight Sun & Atlantic Salmon, and pardon my English) |

Have you looked at tfo? They have a 9 weight for about $100. Orvis has a new rod for around $100 too but I am not sure if they have one in a 9 weight. |

Hi Steve,
Only kinding............ I know that Gary Loomis does make some for Cabelas. With the Temple Fork Outfitters, Orvis, Redington and St.Croix low priced rods ($59 and up) in our fly shop, we are selling fly rods to people that would have normally bought from Cabelas, Bass Pro or LL Bean. We are loving it. -- Bill Kiene Kiene's Fly Shop Sacramento, CA, USA www.kiene.com "steve sullivan" wrote in message ... I think Larry(?) Batson http://www.batsonenterprises.com/index.html
makes OEM blanks for a lot of small brands and custom builders. I have heard a lot of good things about Batson's Rainshadow blanks. The next blank I buy will probably be a Rainshadow. You can't beat the price. Custom Tackle Supply has last years Rainshadown blanks at 50% off. I've never built one, but like you heard great things about the blank. I decided to buy a few and build up a couple rods for my niece and nephew and perhaps a travel rod for myself. At roughly 16 a blank, it's hard to beat right now! http://www.customtackle.com/ Incidently, Dan Craft is a retailer for Batson blanks, and he has his own line of blanks. Don't know who actually makes them, but I have heard rave reviews for the Sig. IV and V lines. I am plugging Dan because I have done business with him before and found him to be a nice guy who provides great service. http://www.dancraftent.com/loadit.html No affiliation, etc. I recently purchased a Dan Craft Sig V blank. Haven't built it yet, but this blank is incredibly light. Dan is very helpful and will get you started in the right direction. I've never heard a bad thing about the Sig V blanks and it appears this is currently one of the best bang for the bucks on the market. Warren, a good source of info on rod building can be found at: http://www.rodbuilding.org/ A number of sites have rod building step by step instructions as well. Let me know if you are looking for something in particular. |

Levi is privately owned so there no way to tell. The poor ******* at
Abercrombie & Fitch only made 66.7 mill last year. How they get by on that?. http://www.aflcio.org/corporateamerica/paywatch/ "George Cleveland" wrote in message ...
