Take a look at the Sage FLi. It's a recently discontinued line
and a lot of places are selling them off cheap. I have a 10' 7wt
I bought as my backup smallmouth/steelhead rod and I really like
the way it casts. The successor to the FLi is the Flight, I've
never cast one but the 4pc. 7&8 wts retail for $340.

Got two. If you want pretty and a drag that will stop a 50 lb
chinook, don't get it. If you're after 20 lb steelies or 10 lb browns
and you believe that reels are there to hold lines, they're perfect.

Uh, they have free shipping when you spend over 150. Thats not
"infalted." What are you talking about? Have you ever dealt with
this company? Used their equipment or bought something from them? I
have and have no complaints. When you make an assumption and turn it

you guess at, you look more of a fool than even we can imagine. And

Where do you get that it's a $39 reel? Even at half the MSRP, it's
over $100. So $72 for purchase, including shipping, on a reel that
lists for $250 is not a bad deal at all in my book.

An 8wt is ideal for bonefish. I recently bought a Sage Z-Axis for just
that purpose. Expensive, but I love the rod.

IMO, you should get a fast tip-action rod to handle the wind.

I recently bought a 4-piece 10wt from LL Bean that was surprisingly good.
A sharp, snappy rod I can throw (almost) the whole fly line with. With
lighter lines I can throw the whole fly line. I think my 80-85' limit
with that rod has more to do with line weight than the rod, because I
did like the rod. I've got a more expensive Loomis 2-piece 10wt that is
similar (punches big flies into the wind like a champ, but dies on me
over 85'). With my 7wt 9'6" Sage RPL something I can toss the whole fly
line almost at will (with a small fly and no wind).

Didn't catch a permit. But did catch snook and tubah (magnum jungle blue
gills).

Cost $180 USA dollars. Made in South Korea. Hard to complain about the
price.

PS....I think I've only caught one or two fish in a lifetime at great
distance like that. But it is a useful measure.

Thanks.

Place names are endlessly fascinating (as are names in general). Many
of their origins are shrouded in mystery, while others turn out to be
pretty much what you'd expect. Not surprisingly, this one belongs in
the latter class:

"TEMPLE FORK (Cache) originates south of Temple Peak up Logan Canyon.
An earlier name was Maughns Fork for Peter Maughn, who ran a sawmill
in the canyon. The name was changed after a decision was made to
harvest the timber in this canyon for building the Logan Mormon
temple. Private lumbering interests agreed to go elsewhere to obtain
lumber supplies while the temple was under construction. All the
temple names in this immediate area are derived from this name
source."

From "Utah Place Names" by John W. Van Cott.

One of my favorites in the former category is Eleva, Wisconsin. One
camp insists that the town, originally called New Chicago, was later
named after a village in France, for reasons I have not been able to
unearth. The other insists that someone was painting a name on the
grain elevator next to the train station and had gotten as far as the
first five letters in "ELEVATOR" when winter clamped down. I've
encountered no theories about why someone would start with the word
"elevator" rather than with the owner's name, nor why the project
wasn't simply completed in the spring. But I like the story!

giles
who, just a few minutes ago, had the pleaure of watching a pair of
rough-legged hawks circling over the back porch.....roughly in the
center of a major conurbation.
