Okay, so I mispoke...
Got home late after a meeting last night and my bride asked if I had
anything planned for the weekend. I've got an event with the Nebraska Game and Parks where I'm going to teach a class to "Women in the Outdoors." Just told the bride "I'm gonna do Outdoor Women." I'm getting a crap load of the evil eye even today. Frank Reid |

Frank Reid My SO took a whole series of classes from that (similar) program (in Texas) - generally a great idea and a great program, but trust me on this one - DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TEACH WOMEN HOW TO LAUNCH A TRAILERED BOAT! I sweardagod there must be something in their genes that prevent them from backing a trailered boat down a boat ramp...oh, sure, they seem to understand most of the process, but seem completely incapable of grasping the concept of "and if you don't mind, please try not to damage anything in the process...." Six women managed to do a little over 8 grand worth of damage to boat, motor, trailer and truck, and it was the first and only time I'd even _heard_ of a trailer jack-knifed on a boat ramp...no, I don't mean "jack-knifed in the parking lot" or some such, I mean what I said: jack-knifed _on a boat ramp_... Okay, this is a private lake at a church retreat facility (really, really nice facility with multiple cabins, lodges, activities including zip lines and "confidence" courses). Evidently, the lake doesn't get ANY pressure. Stood on a broken down dock and cast a girdle bug across the creek channel running through the lake. The fish were stacked up in the cool channel due to the 90 degree heat today. The bluegill that kept nailing the fly AVERAGED master angler size. Had 7 fish on 7 casts, including 3 bass at 21" in a row. In Nebraska, Master Angler for a bluegill is 9" or 1 lb, bass is 20" or 5 lbs (length needed for catch and release records). I can honestly say, I caught over 10 master angler class fish today. Oh, yeah, taught some ladies to cast too. Frank Reid |

Frank Sr. I was thinking that it would be fun on a 3wt, but I was casting 70+ feet with the 5wt to get to the honey hole. If you got a 3wt that you can cast that far, I will sign you up for a demonstration at one of our club meetings. Frank Jr. |
