Great pictures, Willi. How come I've never seen a picture of Charlie without
a bend in his rod? You, either, for that matter.
Really nice fish for such small water. Your thaw is considerably ahead of us.

Hi Willi,
Great color on those fish. And you're right about the water. From these
pics I can tell there is more water than Bear Creek.

great fish, willi. very interesting water. in carolina, water such as
that creek is almost always dead as kernersville at 4am. it amazes me that
you guys were able to avoid spooking the fish, especially with dries.

keep the tr's comin!

It's pretty close to 100% better. My recovery coincided with the onset
of cold weather, so yesterday was my first outing since July.
Wayne brings his family out here on vacation every summer. He called to
announce his arrival just as I was released from the hospital last summer,
my bad back excuse probably sounded like a cross between "the checks in the
mail" and "my dog ate my homework". I'm keeping up with a back-strengthening
exercise program just so I won't let him down next summer.

The fish I'm pictured with and the fish Willi poses with in the last
frame are one and the same. Just after Willi snapped the first photo it
squirmed out of my hands and broke off with a PT nymph in his upper lip. We
returned to that spot after three hours and Willi caught him in a different
run, feeding in fast water 4" deep. Willi removed my fly, then dropped it in
the river. (You owe me, man.)

That was wild. Just shows that landing a fish without a net isn't too
stressful!
