Blurt it right out? Seek the humor? Maybe try to tie it to a moral on some
totally unrelated subject...?

Maybe just stand on a mountain and raise my arm with my right fist
extending the middle finger and say , "Hah!" Take that world. Hell, you
can't scare me, I ain't afraid of death it's the dying I fear.

....and I'm afraid I can't match the courage and bravery I've seen. That
there will be no Indian chief to smother me with a pillow Like Jack
Nicholson had in "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest." Afraid I'll be some
mindless drooling slob with not the brains or the physical capability to
take my own life...and I will.

I see nothing wrong with recognizing that existence is no longer a
beneficial experience. Freakin' Stephen Hawking, hell I'm in awe of him.

Aw, the middle finger will be healed by the time I make it to Penns. When
the knife slammed shut I knew it wasn't serious. Not enough force - it
stopped at the bone.

So I just wound some gauze down the finger starting at the tip and working
towards the hand, squeezed all the blood out. Filled it up with super glue
and wanted for it to dry.

It worked pretty good but it swelled a bit. Later it broke open at the skin
and some puss drained and it looks pretty good. It seems as if the meat part
stayed together so it is more like a deeper slightly red scratch now..

Cowardly. I mean I should have let the blood drain all down my hand, kinda
smeared some on my face like war paint and THEN went out and cursed the
world.

Well, what do you think?

For those who don't know and for those whose rapt attention I hold I'll drag
it out just a little longer.

The first year I attended with a broken big toe. That sucker would set over
night and we got out to the creek and 'snap' it would separate again.
Couldn't fish worth a hoot and when I got home the Dr was upset. I had
abused it almost to surgery.

The second year I attended I wasn't it too bad of shape. I told the Dr at
the ER I needed to go fishing the next day! so he fixed me up, sigh, I had
such high hopes.

Now last year wasn't too bad... Granted, I had a rather ugly stub where the
end of my finger used to be but the fishing was good.

Now, I thought I had been real careful not to talk about Penns (that's what
seems to bring on these freak accidents - the mere mention of a Penns Clave)
but I had to open my yap and start chatting smallmouth float trips and all.

So, what do you think? Want to hear about the injury or should I save it for
the campfire - should there be at least one night without rain . . .?

What I think is that you shouldn't be allowed within 10' of any sharp
instruments.

Yup, John, you jinxed yourself for sure with that little smallmouth trip post!
Try to lay low for a few weeks so nothing further happens......looking forward
to yet another fine story involving sharp objects, medical care, festering
wounds, etc.

I take it that you and Frank are never allowed to be near one another,
particularly on the water?

John, may we suggest that you place yourself in protective custody one
month before each Penn clave. Otherwise, by 2010 there won't be
anything left of you.

I think you will be henceforth known as "Fester". What happens when you put
a light bulb in your mouth?

On second thoughts, I really donīt want to know, and I implore you not to
try it!

Ah, John's o.k. on the water......it's only whenever he gets near dry land
that he's in trouble. :)

O.K. John this is the way i see it....when someone is even thing about posting
about the penns clave you need to lock up any and all sharp objects, power
tools, specialy chain saws and lawn mowers give key to wife.....don leather
pants and jacket along with steel toed boots and shark gloves.... over which
you need to put kevlar pants and shirt..... over which you can don a suit of
armor and if that don't work try Peters suggestion.....

At my first clave, John is the first person I fished with. Its been all
downriver since then. By the way, John, there's a minor difference
between being funny and being a cut up.
