I had not thought I would get to the Penns Clave at all. It turns out
I will get to head to Pa. this Friday to teach my son fly fishing
skills in Indiana, Pa. Friday and Saturday then arrive Hemlock Acres
Saturday evening. I should have a good day of fishing on Sunday IN
THE RAIN!!!!!! Fishing Friday and Saturday will be IN THE RAIN!!!!!
Forcast for Pennsylvania? RAIN!!!!! I picked up a new Gortex rain
coat at Bass Pro so I can fish Pa. IN THE RAIN!!!!

Looks like a good opportunity to test new RAIN gear in Pa.

Did I mention it was going to RAIN???!!!!

Yeah, well, whatever rain you don't want, just send it to central Virginia,
where the average rainfall is taking a real beating this year.

ignore him....Friday is supposed to be fine.
Saturday: Chance of thunderstorms
Sunday: Sunny 74 degrees
Monday: see Sunday
Tuesday:see Sunday,Monday

this is Weather Channel's outlook.
Weather Service is putting most days at
20-30 % chance of rain. Nothing major on horizon, rainiest day should be
Saturday, but seems no threat of major rainfall.

Did I mention it was going to RAIN???!!!!

An unduly pessimistic prophecy, Wayne. Here's the forecast from the
NWS office in State College, scarcely two hours old:

Seven Day Forecast
Issued 9:00pm EDT -- Wed, May 12, 2004
Overnight
Partly cloudy with a slight chance of a shower
or thunderstorm, then mostly clear with areas
of fog late. Lows in the mid 60s. Light wind.
Chance of rain 20 percent.
Thursday
Partly sunny. Patchy fog in the morning, then
scattered afternoon showers and
thunderstorms. Highs in the lower 80s. Light
wind. Chance of rain 30 percent.
Thursday night
Partly cloudy. A slight chance of showers and
thunderstorms early. Lows in the mid 60s.
Light wind, becoming southeast around 10
mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.
Friday
Partly sunny. Highs in the lower 80s.
Southeast winds around 10 mph, becoming
southwest.
Friday night
Partly cloudy. A chance of showers after
midnight. Lows in the lower 60s. Southwest
winds around 10 mph. Chance of rain 30
percent.
Saturday
Mostly cloudy. Scattered showers. Scattered
afternoon thunderstorms. Highs in the upper
70s. Chance of rain 30 percent.
Saturday night
Mostly cloudy. A chance of showers and
thunderstorms. Lows in the lower 50s. Chance
of rain 30 percent.
Sunday
Mostly cloudy. A chance of showers. Highs in
the lower 70s. Chance of rain 30 percent.
Sunday night
Partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 50s.
Monday
Partly sunny. Highs in the lower 70s.
Monday night
Partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 50s.
Tuesday
Partly sunny. Scattered afternoon showers and
thunderstorms. Highs in the lower 70s.
Chance of rain 30 percent.
Tuesday night
Partly cloudy. Scattered showers and
thunderstorms. Lows in the mid 50s. Chance
of rain 30 percent.
Wednesday
Partly sunny. Scattered afternoon showers and
thunderstorms. Highs in the mid 70s. Chance
of rain 30 percent.

Notice that at no time is the chance of rain more than 30 percent.

And if it does rain, it won't be an all-day downpour.

Fri May 14 PM T-Storms 81°/64° 40 %
Sat May 15 Scattered T-Storms 77°/56° 50 %
Sun May 16 Partly Cloudy 77°/56° 20 %
Mon May 17 Partly Cloudy 81°/60° 20 %

At Penns, a 20% chance of rain means it rains 20% of the time! Sun
and Mon might actually be NOT RAINING!! Just wade across the flooded
roadway, grab a large Oak tree limb for support, lean out over the
torrent avoiding RV's and houses floating by, cast upstream, don't
bother to mend the line, there will be no time in THAT current, and
hold on for a strike! Oh yeah, grab any livestock floating by for
Frank's stew!! :-P

Friday Hazy and humid with the chance of afternoon showers and
thunderstorms. Highs in the lower 80s. South winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance
of rain 50 percent.

Friday night Partly cloudy with a chance of showers or an evening
thunderstorm. Lows in the lower 60s. South winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance
of rain 50 percent.

Saturday Mostly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms likely. Highs in
the upper 70s. South winds 5 to 10 mph, becoming west. Chance of rain
70 percent.

Six legged winged livestock are fine for Frank's stew. Bring dry
firewood from home to fuel the fire under the pot. If the cow
floating downstream is "legs up", leave it its bloated. If it is
still struggling, throw a loop around its neck using a spey D cast and
drag the sucker in close enough to get it snagged on a park bench as
it floats across the floodplain. You can stand knee-deep on the park
bench, reach down and remove a flank steak before cutting the cow
loose. Squat down and flail yor arms so the rescue helicopter thinks
you are drowning since the nearest dry land is several hundred yards
away. When they haul you up, have them take you to the stew pot which
will be on the high ground (ie, NOT in Frank's tent).

Me, I'm praying for rain...the fishin's going to be a bit tougher than you
think, especially mid-day, if we don't get something to mix it up a bit.
Should make for absolutely dynamite evening hatches though as long as the
wind is down.

Wait til you see what we got for you this year in the Great State of
Pennsylvania...
