Hans Nice one Hans! Good to see you having fun in the Dutch waters, there'll probably be a lot more to come. This report is a good inspiration to get me to do some trip reports, cause I've got the feeling that we fish in quite another environment than most of the other visitors here :-). -- Herman |

Yeah, Herman,
unfortunately yes we fish in a different environment. Sorry to say, but I have to learn to appreciate the dutch waters a bit more, I think. Hans BTW what about these 'brasems' not reacting at all ( lying in the watersurface ) ?? "Herman Nijland" schreef in bericht ... Nice example of camera, fly rod, landing net and belly boat steering. I take it you are a reasonably well coordinated person. Great looking fish. What you call sea bass - is that the same fish that the French call a *bar*? Mu |

Hi Mu,
coordination is ok, thanks, but I had to throw quite a few pics away too..... Since I was alone this was the only way to do it. I do not know how the french call this fish. More info to be found at: http://www.fishbase.org/Summary/Spec...s name=labrax Thanks Herman. Since it is of family Moronidae and order Perciformes it is in fact very similar to the fish we call striped bass in the USA which is found in oceans and freshwater (also a relative of two species of smaller fish called white bass and white perch). The body shape, fins and head are very reminiscent of our striped bass. Mu |
