Cool underwear

Sorry, no photos in abpf.

Can anyone recommend some good underwear for breathables for warm
weather?

I bought Vision Coolmax underwear for this purpose last year, but I
think they should rename them as Hotmax. Worse than any ordinary
underwear I've had.

I've also heard that there are some materials that repel dirt (in this
case I guess dirt=sweat). That would be a nice bonus for those long
hike-in fishing trips.

Hmm, I'd think the idea of wearing breathables in warmer weather is either
because:
a) the water is too warm for the usual undergarments, in which I'd suggest
wet wading, or
b) you want to keep your clothes dry, in which case I'd suggest just putting
the waders over them, or taking them off and wet wading, or
c) the water is cold, but the air is warm so getting in and out makes you
clammy.

If that's the case, then maybe some of those really wide mesh (almost
fishnet) underwear that ski bums but under their polypro? They are a cottom
weave, but the wide mesh doesn't trap much air so they stay very cool. (When
they are put under polypro, they become huge air traps and very warm, but
without a covering layer, they are quite cool.) Check out:
http://www.abcunderwear.com/menfisblacpa.html for something similar.

It's a bad idea to wear cotton anything under waders. If you take a
soaking they'll take forever to dry.

In warm water I wear a pair of nylon "shell" pants. In somewhat colder
water I add a pair of fleece pants. In really cold water I add a pair of
thermal underwear.

I do exactly the same altough -and it is allegedly an error, I often tend
to keep normal trouser underneath in normal to warm weather - and in winter
wears even both on top of one another underneath waders i.e. the typical
breathable skin layer and on top Sims fleece bibs.

We've seen a variety of humorous underwear in our fishing trips during
the year. That piece of clothing would make a nice contribution.

I don't know what the chances are that I will find one of those in our
neck of woods, but I'll try.

Have you considered lycra/spandex tights as an option?

hey Jarmo,

Had Roger on the phone yesterday. Water very high at the moment and expected
to be around 10C when we are there. Bought a spare Helly Hansen base layer
today. that is one per week now: luxury! Still, if the sun is not out, might
need to put the fleece bibs on top of the base layer underneath my sexy
waders!

Hi Jerome,

Jerome Had Roger on the phone yesterday. Water very high at the
Jerome moment and expected to be around 10C when we are there.

They had quite a flood last week, but Roger told me that it's getting
better already. Water around 10C ... cold baths to be expected.

Jerome Bought a spare Helly Hansen base layer today. that is one per
Jerome week now: luxury!

Indeed. But those dry quite quickly typically, so you could wash them
once if you'd like to. Well, depends on whether you're sleeping in a
separate tent or not.

Jerome Still, if the sun is not out, might need to put the fleece
Jerome bibs on top of the base layer underneath my sexy waders!

The temperature swings are huge, at least in the northern mountain
regions.
