I've made numerous phone calls to the Lk. Okee. area concerning the
possibility of boat rentals, to avoid pulling a boat all the way from
Mich. I've found that rental of a bass type boat is not going to
happen. One fellow said that a couple of people tried setting up
rentals of these boats and the business went south in a hurry. So
unless Mr. Moe has a lot of fishing buddies with boats that are
financially unstable and could use the money, looks like I pull one
from Mich.

I feel forced to fish from the Nitro... I'd like to avoid running it in the
shallow waters, but since I know I'm gaurenteed a first place finish...
it'll be worth it.

That is the case Jerry, boat rentals are out on Okeechobee. I do have a couple
of boats that will be available, but we will need all the boats we can get. As
the time gets closer, I will have all the info on how many boats are available
for our use. Joe and I are setting up the Southern Classic web site soon and we
will start taking sign ups then. No need to be afraid to run any boat on
Okeechobee, no stumps or wood to run into. Most of the fish will be in grass
and 5 to 8 foot of water depending on the lake level in April.

I know of a few places that rent boats. Problem is I don't know if they have
trailers for them or if they will even let them be trailered. They are
basically flats boats, which most of you will find fishes better than a Bass
boat because you almost fish 360 Degrees out of them.

The other place only has airboats and pontoons, but they may have some Alum.
boats as well that I haven't seen. That would mean no livewells, so that
probably won't work at all.

Here are a few other places. Maybe they will let you trailer a boat down to
Big O.

Florida Boat Rental Inc
Tampa, FL 33616

Only other thing I can think of is looking a a Boat Club and seeing what
they have.

I think Jolly Roger Marina in Clewiston rents boats as well 863-983-7402, as
does the Anglers Marina in Clewiston 863-983-2128, and Roland and Mary Ann
Martin Marina should rent boats as well 800-473-6766. I imagine these are
johnboats or some type of skiffs though, but they maybe worth checking into.
I will make a few calls this week and see what I can dig up. Most of the
other places are just outrageous charging upto 350.00 a day for a boat:(

Hey, it isn't a big deal, I pulled the Cobra down from northern Wisconsin last January. Even
through an Indiana snowstorm, I still made good time. I'd rather fish out of my boat anyway and
planned on pulling my boat down.
