Stainless hooks

Hi gang,
I gut hooked a bream with a stainless hook so I cut the line and let it go - Will the hook corrode away? or will the poor bream be stuck with it?

Stuck with it, i'm afraid.

Even if it was a plain old bronze adonised hook, if it's gut hooked,
basically it's buggered.

I have found gut hooking kills the fish regardless of hook type.
