Mackerel in Norfolk

Still a few hanging around at Cley at the weekend. Be quick or they will
soon be gone for another year.

Can't wait for the real fishing to start. :-)

Well it was a bit of a tongue in cheek reply, but I've always
preferred the autumn and winter fishing.
Only rarely fished the Norfolk coast though, and that was a long time
ago, so perhaps someone local would be able to advise you better on
choice of venues.
I'd guess that the whiting would be starting to make an appearance
about now on night tides (they're already showing further north,
together with a few early codling) with the fishing picking up after
the big tides at the end of the month.
The codling (what there are of them anyway) probably a bit later, and
not worth targetting till the back end of October, unless sea
conditions are very good.

Cheers

having mackerel about in jan reminds me ,of one trip i missed to loch long
for night fishing
my mate told me that mackerel were running close to the shore and he got a
few before they went further up loch long
just wish we could catch them all year round in big numbers as its a great
way to get your kids interested in sea fishing

I'd assumption that the whiting would be starting to accomplish an appearance about now on night tides (they're already assuming added north, together with a few aboriginal codling) with the fishing acrimonious up after the big tides at the end of the month.
