Fishing Reel Spare.

Hi People,

My Dad died recently and he had a very old DAM Quick 550 spinning reel that
he loved. So decided to clean it up as a keepsake. Anyway, a tiny 1cm long
spring zapped off into thick garden, never to be seen again.

Any hints on where I can source something like this? I used to have a shed
full of adds and ends, but I recently had a major clean out in preparation
for moving house.

I live in Brisbane.

Regards
Doug

Tried a strong magnet to find the spring?

A few out of a hard drive could do the trick.

I did try that, but it is thickly vegetated.

Tried a spring out a a pen? one of the push button ones? There are a few
around with quite tightly wound springs.

Chris.

That a good idea. I ideally need a stainless steel spring, but I guess that
is not critical as the reel is a keepsake, and probably not used.

I have found one source, but I have to buy a batch of 100 springs.

Stock springs usually have almost every spring off the shelf and will sell
individually. They can make almost anything but it can get a little
expensive. If you need a phone number reply in the group or look in the
yellow pages online. They are one of my suppliers.

Music has many forms, it can be found in nature as well as man made.
Music to my ears is my Tiagra 50W screaming when towing a Wombat from
Pakula.
To mail spam is really hot but please reply to thread so all may benefit (or
laugh at my mistakes)

If he hasn't got it it probably can't be got.

I've been getting parts off Mike since he used to run the store out of the
basement at his folks house. I believe his dad started the business.

Somehow lost the pin that makes my old Abu Garcia level-wind reel wind
level so I guess I'll be calling him again soon tho fishing season is over
in Northern Alberta where I've been stuck for the last seven years.

I recommend him without reservation.

Tight lines.

Later......
