some photos from this year's trip. fished every day with danl until he
left last saturday, when i fished the madison. only fished the madison
that one day, but fished from 3 dollar bridge up to the slide inn on
that day. except for a brief dip in the gallatin, danl and i spent our
time on smaller streams in which the water was surprisingly cool (ranged
from 54-67 degrees). caught lots of fish on all the streams except fan
creek - but we quit on it early and moved to another stream - all of
mine were caught on dry flies. even caught some big rainbows and cutts
on a bullethead salmonfly pattern despite the fact the salmonfly had
been gone for about 2 weeks. some of the photos are landscape... drove
the chief joseph/beartooth pass route after a visit to cody and the
museum. the shoshone national forest areas are incredible.

most of these pics are over 200kb

1. looking toward fan creek and fawn pass and...way back there...fawn lake.

2. fan creek

bulls**t creek. danl located this stream. scenery and fishing were
superb. we spent 3 full days fishing it. rainbows and cutts. all of the
fish had vibrant coloring...among the prettiest, healthiest fish i've
caught in montana. strong fights and incredible jumps, some 3 or more
feet out of the water. most were in the 15-16 inch size...but danl
caught several 17-18 inchers. i lost 2 i know would have been 20" or
more. a fun stream.
