boat battery question

I have a Minn Kota trolling motor, I run off a 12v battery.

Does anyone know of a way to charge these batteries, so I am not constantly
buying a new battery?

Does anyone have expierence with those solar battery chargers (you mount the
solar panel on your boat, and hook up the cables to the battery)????

Any ideas etc.. would be greatly appreciated,

Uh, yeah. You can buy a charger that'll plug into the wall plug and
then you put the cables onto your battery posts and let it be. Make
sure it's okay for a marine deep charge battery, though. Which, btw,
if you've got the time (it takes a while) you can also use to recharge
your vehicle battery, should need be. I've had one for years. It'll
keep on recharging your little MinnKota battery for several years at
minimum.

I talked to the guy at Cabela's when I bought my new battery. He said
it's not useful. Takes too long to put any appreciable charge on
anything. Like days. I'd advise taking along an extra fully charged
battery. Hey, you'll be able to afford it now that you don't have to
buy new ones every time you discharge one, right? My boat's too small
(kayak sized) for two, but I'd love to have two along. It'd increase
my range by a lot.

Any ideas etc.. would be greatly appreciated,

boat battery question

I bought a Deep Cycle Marine battery at Costco for $40 and a 2-12 amp deep
cycle charger at Walmart for $40 and I can run my Minn Kota 40lb thrust for
at least 5 hours. Charges the battery in a few hours.
