Carp and other bottom feeders can often be found at the Round Valley Inn.

haha.

I have actually fished RV a couple of times and I have read all the
published literature on it, but I am a little concerned that it
contains basically stock fish and a few others that feed on them
(bass, catfish). Where are the baitfish?? Have they all starved to
death? I know that the water when eutrophic--borderline oligotrophic
over a couple of decades.

I also am aware that a nutrient survey is being commissioned. It is a
little worrying to canoe over acre after acre of water and not see any
kind of fish life other than a few trout.

It is, however, the most beautiful place to skunk.

Only last spring I was fishing Round Valley in the evening when the bait
started popping all around me and next thing you know I'm into 7 or 8 bass
quick. Also, there's a guy named Warren who frequents the
rec.outdoors.fishing.bass group and he hammers monster bass there all the
time. They're in there, but it's super clear and real deep so it's hard to
get up on them. I don't know how Warren does it, but I've seen the
pictures. Round Valley is alive and well.
