We bounced a mackerel for hours in 95+ degree heat.. :-) and you are right I think I would like to stick those benito with a fly on a six wt, I mean they just slam the jig big time.......pretty fish as well Harry Mason www.troutflies.com |

It's no more than the typical "squid clone" trolling lure, except that the skirt is made of fine strands of nylon--like the stuff comprising soft nylon rope. Because of the overlapping-plate construction of the fish's bill, like that of a rhino, the fine strands are able to entangle the billfish when it comes to strike the lure. From what I've heard, once the fish is brought alongside the boat, it's no big deal to remove the lure. I don't know when the Hurricane was invented, but I think I heard of it back in the mid-'80's. It's like the perfect C&R lure for billfish--no blood let. Too bad there isn't something as effective for trout fishing. Dave E. |
