Jerome Hey Jarmo, Jerome I wondered how you got on in Norway with the artic char Jerome fishing that you had planned. We did not see any during the Jerome clave as you probably know. Everything went far better than well, it was fabulous. I am waiting for a CD with digital photos from a friend of mine before I can post a trip report. I really, _really_ think that we will have some sort of a gathering up north for this type of fishing in the future. -- Jarmo Hurri Commercial email countermeasures included in header email address. Positive result but you are not saying much?
Was hoping to salivate a bit more! Jerome Jarmo Hurri wrote in message ... Jerome Hey Jarmo, Jerome I wondered how you got on in Norway with the artic char Jerome fishing that you had planned. So now I begin to see the light Jarmo - you dumped us and took the first chopper out all for a prettier date. Miserable, rotten, lucky SOB! I look forward to the trip report and the directions on how to get there. Vaughan |

Hum Vaughan,
I did not know Aussies had such a colourful language... How did your own season finish in Sweden. Any other successful trip to shout about? Hope you are well, Jerome Vaughan Hurry wrote in message ... Jarmo Hurri wrote: Jerome Hey Jarmo, Jerome I wondered how you got on in Norway with the artic char Jerome fishing that you had planned. Hope you are well, Jerome Hi Jerome, I guess that means you were not down river with us the day I broke the tip of one of my rods (which is now back with the builder to get a new tip made). That was colorful language.........Thankfully Roger was able to patch it for me at the time and I could fish out the day without any further problems. Nothing to shout about since, sadly. I took one more trip down to the river close to Umeå for seatrout and caught 4 small fish, the biggest was only about 1kg. This is the same spot I took Myron to but on that occasion we got skunked. I also had 2 final days down at Idsjöströmmen after grayling last week. The water was low but around 11C and there were a lot of big fish in the river but there was not much feeding activity. This time of year that river usually has good Baetis hatches between 1pm and 3pm each day. This year, even though it was cold with foggy rain and no wind - nothing. There was a small flurry of upwings the first day at 2pm and after not having a single rise all day I caught 3 fish in 3 casts and then the next pool up caught 2 more in quick succession and that was it for the day. 5 fish in 30 min, 8 hours for nothing. All the fish were between 45 and 50 cm so I can't complain. The next day I had to resort to a nymph to catch anything, which is fine, but not really what I was hoping for. Not sure what has happened this summer, I have seen so few insects - the clave week was unusual but except for June it seemed typical for this year. Perhaps it has been the sequence of very hot dry summers that has pushed the insects through their life cycle quickly and reduced recruitment into the next cohorts. I know too little about entomology to know but I hope the good rains this fall continue into next summer........ All the best and I hope to see you again next summer. Vaughan |
