Commercials do frequent these groups & fishing forums. :( The amount of spam you get after posting on here don't help either :( -- Davy Holt *** The Scottish Angling Homepage *** Clydebank *** www.thecatchalot.co.uk *** Scotland MSN Messenger: ICQ : 81258455 Yahoo Messenger : davyh_2001 |

Alex. Or..... If your ISP allows you to have more than one mailbox, set up another one and use that as your contact email address for News Groups... as I do. It's a real email address, I just don't download the emails sent to it or very rarely. fyi... this last time I did check the mailbox, I had over 80 messages of which, more than 60 had virus attachments, 2 were from my ISP (just newsletters) and the rest were spam! -- Andy Lawson |

Except you need to make sure that you don't inadvertantly use someone else's registered domain (the part after @). www.thesea.com is such a registered domain and you can get into trouble if you use it without permission. A good site for checking this is www.uk2.net, where it will also give you a good deal of other info. A couple of good (and free) ways to deal with spam is, e.g. www.spammotel.com where you can create as many new email addresses as you like and delete, suspend or re-activate them at will. It will also tell you (if you want it to) just where the spammer got your address from. There is also www.spamgourmet.com where you can set up an account to forward a chosen numbers of emails to your proper email address and then all subsequent emails are automatically deleted (in my particular case the first 4 were forwarded, the rest all deleted). This is useful if you need to initially validate an email address for puposes such as posting to Googlegroups and News Individualnet, for example, but don't want the susequent spam deluge. There are other such site too, but ITYGTP |

I have generally used the "added phrase in mail addy "method on my newsgroup meanderings obvious to humans no so to mailbots............so far! makes you wonder though is everybody too busy out fishing to post ? maybe there will be a public study on the relationship between bad weather and postings Derek --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
