Who was asking about Canyon Lake recently? I was just reviewing the links
in the link index on my website and ran across this one. I don't know if
there is any good informaiton on the site, but they sure pictured a lot of
lunklers.

I paid a visit there two weeks ago. A very nice lake. I was there
visiting family, so unfortunately I had no tackle. But I'm going
to fish that one ASAP.

Canyon Lake, Az

It was really tough saturday. I fished the ABA open and only weighed in two
keepers. I did get on a mid day bite, but sadly I failed to get a good hook
set on three keeprs. (nothing, but it might have gotten me in the money.)

I ran out of the 3/0 wwhooks I like for throwing wacky senkos, and I think
the 2/0s I was using as a substitute just weren't doing the job. That and I
forgot to lay into them hard for the hooks set. When I started
concentrating and really laying into them hard I didn't miss another fish.
Of course most of them were 12 1/2 inches. My big fish for the day was 2.0
even. I did catch about 20 fish, but most of them were 1/8 to 1/2 short of
the 13" min.

I spent all day in the lakes. My regular ABA partner fished by himself and
he spent all day flipping the river for two fsih also, but his big one was
almost 4 pounds. I think it was partly rough becasue of the near full moon,
but fish were still being caught. I have yet to be skunked on this river,
but somedays I sure wish I could staple a few fish together end to end.

I also caught a couple fish on crank baits, but they were also shorts.

Canyon seemed to be producing some decent size fish, however, in the past 2
weekends, my favorite spot has been horrible. 0600-1200 and not even a
BITE! hahaha Ill be wetting my line in a recently stocked lake near my
house. Most people say that bass don't get pulled out of there, however my
buddy pulled one out on Friday at lunchtime. Deep blue jointed rapala. I
prefer soft plastics myself. Any good ones on the market?

Nice to hear from you Bob... TTYS!
