Fishing - Angler Alert! Monday

Offshore & Outer Banks:
Sadly, as we move further into fall, towards winter, the water temps
on the outer banks have been dropping rapidly, and with them, the fish
counts on the exotics, such as Bigeye Tuna to 100+ lbs., 50 lb.
Yellowfin Tuna, and 20-30 lb. Dorado and a bunch of Marlin. It has
been a good summer, with very large Albacore, which may return as the
water temps drop into the mid 60's. Some of the exotics are still out
there, as Bill on his boat "Salty Dawg" fished Sat. at the 295, with
friends for some 12 to 20 lb. Yellowfin tuna. They had to use the jigs
to go deep for the tuna, to get below the mini Dorado & yellowtail,
which were all over the kelps they found. They also caught a few YFT
on the troll. Lowell fished at the 390 on his boat "Fish Hooker" with
crew Mike and Amy Sat.. They found a school of Yellowfin tuna on the
chew, after hooking a troll fish on a Mexican Flag feather, and after
chunking bait, ended the day with 9 YFT and three yellowtail. Russell
on his buddy's boat "Wheel Sea", fished with friends Friday at the
295, and found a kelp for wide open...

Islands and up North to Morro Bay:
Tom fished Weds. at San Clemente Island on his boat "Hooker" with
friend for 10 Yellowtail to 30 lbs. with plenty of fish lost to the
rocks. Ray fished Thursday at SCI for five quality Yellowtail to over
20 lbs. on his boat "Hard at Play". The Island was closed this
weekend. Catalina has been very slow, and so have the Islands up
North.

Below the Border & La Jolla:
Mik fishing at La Jolla on his boat "Chips n Ritas" Sun., with friends
caught the 3 B's, bass, barracuda and bonito, a nice day on the water.
The San Diego Bay has produced some nice spotted Bay bass and sandies.
The Coronados and Rockpile have also been very slow. Will be time for
rock fish soon.

Local Scene:
The reports for the local waters have been mostly for bonito, a few
halibut, and everyone seems to be in full "Bug" mode. After talking
with some anglers down at the ramp in Dana Point Yesterday a few of
them reported Yellows to 15# off the Domes. David went looking
offshore for signs of Marlin with Loren & Crystal on Loren's 20'
Skipjack "Anchovy" for no luck. They came across lot's of paddys with
no one home. Later in the day they went in to the kelp & caught a
Treefish & some other assorted rockfish (all released). Later
switching to the bugs. Most of the guys out there yesterday seemed
more interested in the Bugs than fish. Almost everyone out there we
talked to had limits.
