Well, the White House's explanation is that its a wrinkle in the suit jacket. THAT leaves quite a bit to the imagination. I find it remarkable that the most likely other option (body armor) wasn't what they said, as more folks could believe that. When I noticed the bulge, my initial reaction was that it was a bullet-proof vest or some sort of body armor, and I even commented as such to SWMBO. But for the White House folks to say that it was a "wrinkle"? Do they really expect the public to be dumb enough to fall for that? Oh, nevermind. I think its a wire. The guy can't earn over a F+ in public speaking, and he actually managed to pull off a C- in the first debate. And that 'Let me finish' gaffe is too hard to ignore. You can see the entire debate on a C-Span download (I watched it last night), and there are *plenty* of shots of the bulge. Its hard to deny its existance, unlike WMDs. I don't know if it's a wireless, or not, but to deny the fact that something was clearly visible under his coat is, for lack of a better phrase, a case of the emperor's new clothes, IMHO. This is totally off topic, but if this article is true, I'm really ****ed (either candidate doing this would torque my jaws). http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/10...less_coaching/ This document, confirmed by CBS News and 60 Minutes as 100% authentic, is proof positive that Bush was *NOT* wired for sound during the first debate and worked solely from his notes: http://css.sbcma.com/timj/pics/bushrules.gif -- TL, Tim ------------------------ http://css.sbcma.com/timj |
