Bucktail for Muddlers?

All,
Taken by a trail camera in Oregon. Gotta wonder if the flash saved this
deer or just delayed the inevitable?

Any chance that the deer was a decoy to get pictures of mountain lions?

Or I suppose a decoy mountian lion to get pictures of deer.... wait,
that doesn't work.

I would think that if it were a decoy I would have set it up at a
different angle so I got a clearer shot. But I have no evidence that
both animals aren't stuffed for that matter. Just thought it was neat
at face vlaue.

Allen, any verification on the truthfulness of this picture?
At first glance it is awesome, but some things make it hard
to believe. I've never used one, but all the trail camera ads
seem to take pictures at a much closer range. Will they really
trigger that far away? And why didn't it trigger earlier? Why
are the lion and deer centered in the photo? If the camera is
triggering off the lion's body, why didn't it trigger when the
deer was back there?

I'd love to believe it, but...

Jon.

What's that noise?? Aaah-- it was Tinkerbell dying :(

As I said, I'm making no claims as to the authenticy of it. The very
cheap trail camera I have will trigger up to 25 feet away. I assume
better ones are a little more versatile. It came off of rec.hunting so
I'll see what the commments are there and report back if there's any
confirmation or denials.

Well, suppose they were REALLY ****ed-off deer...you know, like the Smith
chapter of the Committee of Feminist Lesbians to Elect Rosie O'Donnell, or
something...I mean, some of those broads play field hockey and eat beer cans,
for goshsake!
