Product Review Super Mono XX
Initially I was impressed with Spiderwire's Super Mono XX, but after several
months of using it I have lost confidence in it. The knot strength seems to be the issue. From a positive perspective it seemed to handle abrasion very well. Great diamater and castability. I have several spinning reels spooled up with their 12lb line. The stuff is indistguishable from 6lb mono in older styles. I would have to say it casts as well as Trilene 8lb XL. Thats saying a lot for 12lb line from anybody. I have certainly caught a number of fish on it, but I have had one break off at the hook in open water. It was a good size fish. I initially wrote it off as a being big and my own over horseing the fish. After some time to reflect I have to say my opinion has changed. Yesterday when I was out fishing with Joe and Lannes Joe had a problem with a rod I handed him spooled with Super Mono. Each time he tested his knot it broke. I stripped off some extra line and carefully tied on for him with a wetted trilene knot. It broke as soon as Joe gave a good tug on it. It was not particularly old line, and it had no nicks. So while I love the castability and diameter of the line I am afraid that I he decided to reembark on the journey for the perfect line. I may be looking for at a hybrid line or a flouro carbon. Small diameter. Lots of durability. Great castability. Low visibility. The saga contiues... Yes I know how wonderful Power Pro is, but it definitely is not low visibility even magic markered black. -- Bob La Londe www.YumaBassMan.com All about fishing in Yuma, Arizona Promote Your Fishing Website FOR FREE www.DiyComponents.com Buy professional quality components for DIY Projects |

Product Review Super Mono XX
I agree with Steve, I have experimented with many different type lines and
must say the yozuri hybrid line came out on top. I tried the spiderwire and found it to break easily too. I went back to the yozuri and probably won't find a better line for the money.
