Prepare and eat sailcats

Can you eat sailcats? How do you prepare them?

Prepare and eat sailcats

TC

It's easy..

First you take that slimy, nasty, MF and nail it's head to a board.

Then you season it with salt, pepper and lemon juice.

Cook it in the oven at 400 degrees for 6 hours.

Take it out, throw away the fish and eat the board.

That's how you prepare a sailcat.

Next time catch a snook or a redfish.

Prepare and eat sailcats

Sailcat, Sea Cat, Gafftop, Slime Cat, Gafftopsail Catfish equals a slimy
day. They are food eating and can be filet or skinned like a channel cat or
blue cat. You would fix them just like you would any other fish. Broil
bake or fry does not matter.

I recommend throw them back so the slime does not make a mess.

ABSOLUTELY!! My guess is that 99% of people that say you cant have
never tried them--i usually filet them starting at about the dorsal fin
and going back to the tail--skin the fillets and cook em up (fried,
broiled whatever)--I have fed them to a lot of people who thought they
were pretty darn tasty (and were surprised to find out what they just ate!!)
It is important to keep them on ice until you clean them--like a lot of
fish that actually have flavor, fi you leave them in the sun they taste
horrible

Enjoy the cats--but let anyone else know--if people find out they are
edible, there wont be any left!!

Yes, but do you want to put that slimy thing in your boat or ice chest.
