More on Leaders?

For us clueless ones, can anyone provide a link to a good article describing
the differences between different types of leaders (dry vs wet) and
different materials for leaders? I also would appreciate a good summary of
what to buy to make my own the most efficient way possible. So far, I've
been fortunate enough to regularly pass through countries where I could buy
tapered leaders for around $2 each, but my supply is running low, and I hear
rumors that they cost more than twice (or even thrice) that in the states.
I'd love to buy some larger spools of the appropriate material and just load
up my little tippet spindle when they run out, but I'd want to know the
difference between what is used for wet vs dry fishing. Also, is there any
truth to that stuff about UVs wearing out leader/tippet material?

Thanks
