OT _but_ Sea Anglers & their rods

Ok a bit OT for a coarse angling group but I have often wondered this ......
why do sea anglers always seem to use their rods with the 'eyes' uppermost
...... 'pointing to the sky'?

I am sure someone here will know

Cheers ...... Richard

Only those using multiplier reels - fixed spool and centrepin users work
rings-under.

Those with multipliers in freshwater have the rod rings-up too.
