Two of my friends use it, and they had no problems buying/registering it. It
costs 30$, ( personal use), and works well according to them. I have a few
MPG´s they converted from other formats for me, and they are pretty good.

They both said that they don´t know of any really good freeware, and they
both do a lot of video stuff on their computers, so are probably well
informed.
