info on Lake Norris in TN

Brother Tom has developed an interest in Lake Norris in TN and has
prevailed upon me to see if any roffian is familiar with the area, and
specifically, the lake itself. Possibly wants to buy property there for
retirement. TIA

....who will also do a web search, but thought a personal touch would be
nice.

Hey Frank, I grew up (or gave it a good shot, anyway) about half a
hoe-handle from Norris. (BTW, its Norris Lake, not Lake Norris) and several
of my siblings are still hiding out in those parts. Tell your Brother Tom
not to even consider that place. The winters are colder and wetter than a
well digger's toe and the summers are a suana bath. Small children must be
hobbled when left outside in the warm months lest a couple of mosquitoes hie
them away to their nesting grounds. There is no spring or fall; Just
colder'n hell and hotter'n hell. All of the locals are shiffless and no
account. They will steal anything that's not tied down and guarded by armed
personnel (usually someone's Granny). "Sober" is as foriegn a concept to
these folks as good beer is to Forty: they've heard of it, but won't have
any truck with it. The ground shakes constantly, floods are a weekly event,
there is no potable water, and there are 37 nuclear reactors about 5 miles
away in the Oak Ridge complex. Worst of all, whatever "real estate" (as the
worst swamps and bogs are called) that is available is being bought up by
YANKEES!!! No, stop your brother before he makes a serious life-threatening
mistake.

Oh, and whatever you do, don't let him fish the first 5 miles or so
downstream from Norris Dam for brown trout. They were all shipped to Texas
10 years ago, sweartagawd they were!!!

Do you think you and your brother might like to buy it? I could let
you have a good price on it, fellow ROFFian and all....
