three year puzzle [long]

Hi all--
I was just thinking about the up coming season and a puzzle that I've
wondered about for 3 years.
Three yrs ago I found a spot [honey hole] that made me think I'd died and
gone to heaven. In the space of a couple of hours I must have caught thirty
bass. Most were 12 -15 inches but a few larger ones also .Like all anglers I
go back every time I pass it and have never caught more than a couple of
dinks . My graph shows a ton of fish holding in the area but they just
won't work with me.The hole is a oak tree that has fallen in 12 ft [trunk]
and the limbs are hanging over a 20 ft+ sheer drop off . What success I've
had has been with a watermelon 4 in senko wacky rigged but I've tried just
about every thing. It was late September when I found it. I have found
several other place similar to the first hole and they all hold fish but
are hard to catch.Again I've tried just about everything I know to try .What
do I try next??
Thanks for your time

Ken, my guess is that you intercepted those bass that day along one of their
seasonal migration routes. Bass make mass exodus' from certain areas of our
waters, in the spring & fall. Some cover can be used long-term as a staging
area, and other types can be used by alot of fish for a very short time -
like your "honey hole". It's quite possible that your spot may indeed load
up twice a year, but for as little as a day or two. Expanding on the
migration route theory can really stretch your early & late season success.
