A vertical jigging spoon works well in deep water; might even want to try a
hair trailer around the hook. Bassmaster magazine had an article a few
months ago on this subject.

In the deeper holes where the water is slower moving, drag a small 2.75 inch
tube along the bottom. Use just enough weight that allows the tube to stay
in contact with the bottom -- just let it drag along with the drift of the
boat.
