ESPN2 & Bass Saturday

Just came upon this awesome Bass bonanza a few weeks ago & (at least
until spring) I'm glued to my TV every Sat. morning. After football, TV
gets boring (don't much care for hoops, hockey or golf & absolutely hate
hunting shows.) WOW!!! anything from a Bassin'' news show, to a humorous
Bass show (loudmouth Bass) to a couple of Bassin' school shows
(including one where a student Basser fishes a lake & Denny Brauer
judges him on 5 aspects of his performance) & an intact FLW tour stop. I
think I've died & gone to Bass heaven. It may be old hat to some of you,
but it makes my saturday.

If you really.. really.. really..want to watch all of the fishing shows that
you can stand ( and watch them when YOU want)..go to www.tivo.com. You can
buy a refurbished TIVO 40 hour set for $49.00 (I think it is actually
$149.00 and you get a $100.00 rebate from TIVO). It will also cost you
about $13.00 a month forever..

..but............... you can set it to "catch" ANY and ALL fishing or
hunting or sewing or auto-repair or whatever.... shows ...........and
automatically record them. You watch them when you want. You will never
ever go back to "normal TV" again. Oh yes..... and you can skip the
commercials, if you want, also.................. ( I now have two Tivos in
the house and would not be without them.

One better Rich, I have DVR service on my High Def cable box. Not only does
it do what Tivo does (I'm an ex-Tivo subscriber) but it does it in HD w/5.1
surround on select channels. Granted, the fishing shows aren't in HD, but
the movie and network channels are. And it's a few bucks cheaper than Tivo
a month. Plus I don't have to use that god awful Tivo remote for surfing
anymore (too slow).

All the fishing shows are making me jones harder for a nice day on the
water. Where is spring already???

Tivo; DVR; HD-DVR's etc......the way we watch TV has changed forever. I used
to channel surf ALL of the time. Drove my wife nuts..Now, when I am in front
of my TV, I am actually watching something that I want to watch, when I want
to watch it..and without commercials. The TV world is finally paying
attention to the consumer, not the other way around. There will be a price
to pay.. (fewer commercials, less advertising; less money to put into the
shows; more product placements, etc. ) that is just evolution at work....

Youngsters???? Ho Ho Ho Ho Ho Ho Ho Ho...I've got neckties older than your
VCR and probably your TV too....... I'd better tell that one to my
grandkids this afternoon...

I was a big skeptic about Tivo and it's copy-cat cousins....not anymore. It
is about time that the viewers had something to say about what and when and
how they spend their TV time. The VCR is/was a step in the right
direction..but......... it's kind of like automatic transmissions.
"Standard" (with clutch) transmissions work and get you there..but....how
many of us would give up our automatic transmissions today????
