Going up north - need some tips

Hey Gang,
I have fished the fresh waters of Maine in Gardner Lake many many many
times as a youth and know the lake pretty well.

This spring we I am taking my daughter up to our family camp on this good
old lake, to my childhood camp to meet her great, great grandmother... and
of course to go fishing.

I am wondering if anyone knows what to expect fishing the ocean in northern
Maine in and around Machias. It seems pretty far north for stripers, even
though I suspect a scant few will be lurking. What could a shore fisherman
expect to find off the coast that far north? Maybe even as far up as Acadia?
Around April 30 - May 2?

Maybe Salmon running up rivers? I don't know what fishing gear to pack.
