FLYFISHING PICTURES NEWSGROUP
 

Just wondering what it would take to start a newsgroup of
alt.binaries.pictures.flyfishing . The only group related to pictures is
for fishing in general.

Starting a newsgroup in the alt.* hierarchy is not the problem.
Getting ISPs to carry it would be the obstacle. Not worth the
effort in my opinion.

I think if you name it *alt.pictures.flyfishing* or something like that it
will work. If you name it alt.binaries etc then many people are excluded, as
many servers (mine included) will not access binaries news groups. This is
because of the high percentage of porn images usually associated with them.

At least this is what I think is the case, coming from someone who is
practically computer illiterate.

If you _don't_ name it with binaries in the name, but put binaries in
it, it's against all the old 'Net conventions. And some ISPs will
drop it as soon as they notice the load. Then again, many ISPs aren't
very alert.

All I'd have to do is ask my sysadmin to carry it, but he loves
newsgroups. Other people might have more problems.
