Ted Williams Fly-Fishing Documentary.

Today, on ESPN Classic, they broadcast a 1974 documentary titled, "Ted
Williams And The Atlantic Salmon". The documentary showed him tying a
fly called "The Conrad". What is that fly made from, and what type of
fly is Mr. Williams trying to simulate?

According to Bate's "Fishing Atlantic Salmon" on page 367 they say:

.. . .an enterpising individual by the name of Charles Cuck Conrad . .
embellished the Black Bear fly with a tinsel tag and green fluorescent
butt creating waht is known as the CONRAD, or Black Bear Green Butt.

The picture shown in Plate 133 shows a BBGB with hackle fibres for the
tail and and a black wound hacke.

Hope this helps
