I lurk here occassionally (from near Kitchener) but I'm not a serious
fisherman - just a novice who fishes occassionally with my wife and kids.

We did have a very knowledgable Canadian fisherman but he hasn't posted
in a while...He may be in jail...

But we hope he's deceased...

Not guilty, but every year the guys in my family make a sortee into
Ontario once or twice a week at a time. We just love it, Especially
Puzzle Lake (near Tamworth) An ice age, rock bound lake 4 or 5 miles
long with only 1 or 2 means of access. We started coming up in the late
70s (Pike were plentiful & large, my largest personally taken 41 1/2")
Now the pike are rare & small, but the bass have exploded in number as
well as size. A few years ago I was popping a torpedo off a rock face
when a huge (we estimate 10 lbs or so Smallie yes smallie) knocked the
torpedo several feet out of he water & cleared the water itself. We have
gotten Largies & Smallies of upwards of 6 lbs from time to time & every
summer we catch & release a couple over 4 lbs. We just love the Golden
Eagles, Loons, Beaver & the half tame chipmonks that beg for sunflower
seeds around the cabin. God's country indeed (at least in the summer.
Cheers & a hearty "Oh Canada," Carl
