finally got out.......
.....on a lovely 80 degree day in PA. I was long overdue to start pursuing
the local trout, so headed off to the Local Stream(more than a mere trickle at the moment after spring rains and winter runoff have the springs running well). In three hours of fishing, over clear water in bright sunlight, I did manage to baptise my new rod with 3 decent little browns. Actually, the final one wasn't so little for the stream, and he took a #14 Red Quill after drifting behind the fly for a couple of feet. The fly was a guess on my part, having seen a few Hendricksons in the air, along with a handful of Caddis. The other two fish came in quicker water to a pair of wet flies, both taking a grey colored Submerger. All in all, a pleasant start to a week of fishing(off to Penn's at dawn, through the weekend). Kind of a short practice run for what should be day-long death marches on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Tom |
