Off of work
 

I took off of work yesterday and put in a full day on some spots on
Winnebago. I manage 12 fish, and only 4 legals. I caught a bunch of
them pitching a Bagley Basla B II into cover that I would normally throw
a jig and spinnerbait. I managed to completely shatter one bill off of
one of them, and cracked another down the side and made it so I can move
the bill back and forth with little or no effort. The water in the
channels had dropped into the high 40's but these fish were coming up
and hitting it like it was 70 out. I was cranking super slow, so the
tail was hardly moving back and forth at all, but they were slamming it
instantly.
I also managed to pick up a 2 really nice largemouth on Jigs, and a
really nice smallie on a Norman Deep tiny N (crayfish).

I am getting more and more comfortable throwing jigs into just about
anything, and I haven't lost one yet (knock on wood).

Oh well, I posted some pics on ABPF.

You will, but a jig with a heavy weedguard is probably the most snag
resistant lure there is.

It depends totally on why you're fishing. Are you fishing for fun? Are you
fishing for profit? Are you looking for relaxation or are you fishing for
excitement?

I get a kick out of every fish that I catch, regardless of size or species.

Warren, not everyone that comes here has aspirations of being a pro angler,
some just want to have fun and catch bass. To say that a small bass doesn't
count demeans the fish and demeans the angler. Not everyone has your skill
level or dreams.

Even when fishing for money every fish I catch is still fun. I struggled
all day yesterday. My partner put 4 keepers in the boat, and I caught one.
Not real good. Close to the end of the day I was thrilled when I picked up
a little short fish on a spinnerbait in a place and conditions where I said
we should pick up a few spinner bait fish.

We didn't win any money, but we had fun. I was actually pretty satisfied
with the finish. My partner caught more fish today than he has caught in
the last three tournaments combined. Until today I was getting worried he
might give up.

I agree - I took a couple fishing yesterday at Oconee and the woman
caught a 12 inch bass, her first fish ever. She got a real thrill even
tho it was not a keeper - 14 inch limit there.

I agree with Steve. I took a couple fishing yesterday and she caugth her
first fish ever, a 12 inch bass. Not a keeper on Oconee, and we were
fishing a tournament, but she was thrilled and I got a kick our of her
excitement.
