El-Cheapo Digital Camera Recommendation?
Clumsy ******* that I am, I refuse to take my wife's
god-awful-expensive digital camera out on one of my fishing expeditions. Can anyone recommend an inexpensive (like under $120) digital camera I could buy just to stick in my vest and not freak out if I dropped it into the river? Thanks. |

I find the Nikon Coolpix 2100 or 2200 just the ticket for that sort of thing, small, pocket-friendly and it takes great pictures. I got both of mine on Ebay, one for under a hundred bucks, the other about $110. I bought a waterproof bag for about 25 bucks as further insurance against my penchant for taking a dip now and then. You could do worse for the money. Frank the Elder |

Does look like a very nice gizmo, but I don't like the tendency these days to produce P&S digitals without optical viewfinders. The monitors are OK indoors and on overcast days, but most don't cut it outdoors in the sun. JR |

Or, you could do what Frank Reid did and buy a good one that is water proof. He had a post here awhile back on his new toy. Popular opinion was for him to dunk it to verify that it's water proof BEFORE the warrantee expires. |
