Hello again

Hello All,

I have not been here in over a year and that's how long I haven't
fished as well. My wife and I had our first baby, she's 9 months old
now and life is getting back to normal (i.e I'll be fishing again
soon!)

In other news, we have bought a house about 1/2 mile from Lake
Hopatcong, NJ. Sadly, we won't move in until November-December, as it's
not built yet.

So here's a couple of general questions related to these developments:

1.) This lake is huge (according to archives, many of you know it
well). My only water transportation is a 10.9 foot inflatable with a
motormount, but no motor. Even if I bought an electric troller, the
size of this lake makes this "boat" somewhat useless.

What are my options? I'm not looking to get a bass boat and would like
to spend as little as possible. What price range am I looking at for
something that can take a 10hp gas motor and comfortably fit 2-3
people?

2.) Will anyone be willing to give me a fishing tour of the lake? I pay
with food and beer.

Thanks!

Igor.

Drop me an e-mail with a phone number and I'll see what I can do. I fish
Hopatcong often enough in the summer and I have a 17' Ranger.

A small tote type gas motor might be a good investment, but don't discount
your little boat just yet or an electric as a possibility.

In two of the three places I launch regularly some of the most consistant
fishing is within a half mile of the ramp.

I guess maybe you've never seen Hopatcong Bob. It's the largest natural
lake in NJ, it's one of only a few that allow unlimited horsepower outboards
and it's super overcrowded with 20+ foot deep v-hulls cruising everywhere on
the weekends. Not to mention every other watercraft you can imagine. In my
17' Ranger, I can only cross the lake at about 20mph without getting air
under the boat on a sunny Saturday. It's really not safe for boats under
14' but you see smaller ones nonetheless. A small inflatable is going to be
extremely limited.

Sounds like a night time fishing lake. I hate crowded water...

Doesn't sound like a water that I would like to try fishing.

It can get pretty annoying but I do enjoy fishing that water. Early April tourney yielded a winning bag of a little over 16 lbs which included big bass of 5.51 and another just shy of 5lbs. Of course, it was someone else's bag......
