Pflueger purist so far

Just an update on how the Pflueger purist is performing as my primary
pitching reel for jigs.

I am using 50lb power pro on it. I can pitch a mile with it. That is
excellent. A couple issues I have run across with the reel is the plate
release button the left side of the reel. My palm rests on it and
releases a little bit, so after about 20 or so pitches I usually have to
reseat the plate before it pops off.
Another issue I ran into was in cold weather, (30s, 40s), that for some
reason the anti-reverse would quickly go out, and then come back. I
have never seen this in a baitcaster, but pretty much all my experience
is with Curados. I haven't had the issue since the temps go
consistently into the 50s.
One other thing I found out was, I have small hands, so this reel is
comfortable in my hand, and I have tried going back to a curado for the
same application, and it feels ackward and very uncomfortable. I still
use my curados for everything else.

So that is where I am at after 15 trips since april 10th.

I will fill you guys in again at the end of the season.

Low temps is a problem with the anti reverse on most baitcasters, You
can normally cure the problem by cleaning the IAR bearings and applying
a few drops of light oil..
The reputation of Pflueger and other reels made by Silstar (BPS,
Browning) is that they start out strong and go down hill with use..
