Out Again Today
Well one sock Dave was suppose to come fish this morning, but as is the case
many mornings he was a no show. I launched at 7 a.m knowing that I only had about 2 and a half hours to fish. The wind was in high gear, so I tied on a spinnerbait. I figured I could cover a bunch of water. I hit my usual spots but couldn't buy a fish. Switched to a speed worm and caught a dink about 10 inchs or so. Back to the spinnerbait, fished some pads and caught my first solid keeper on a chartreuse secret weapon, right around 16 inchs. Continued to fish the spinnerbait and hooked into a nice big toothy critter, big toothy critter here are 3 lb pickerel. Big enough to cut my ten pound test and swim off with my spinnerbait. Back to the speedworm, I head back to the cove where the wind didn't blow as hard. Fishing real shallow around docks buzzing the speedworm resulted in nothing. I started deadsticking it and pulled my 3rd fish of the morning a good 3 lb'er. I followed that up with a 2 lb'er and a decent pickerel. 9:45. Wife has to leave for work at ten and I'm all the way on the other side of the lake, but enough time to get back pack up and take the two minute drive home. As I'm coming up to the launch area, I get the inevitable phone call..."Where are you".. what is she thinking? She know's where I am. "On my way home, I'll be there in 5 minutes" I said. 1 more laydown before I pull up on shore, I flip my spinnerbait to the side of the tree and it's just hammered. I knew right away this was the fish I was after this morning. Three good runs, it trys to get back into the tree, I motor back away and play the fish to the boat. Big fat bass loaded with eggs. Probably between 4-5 lbs. I snap a few pictures and release her back to the water. Nice way to finish the morning and a nice follow up to the phone call :-) Arrive home at 10:15 to an angry wife who sounds like the teacher on Charlie Brown to me. I smile and she hops in the car and drives away. Some pictures on A.B.P.F |
