irish close season?

Hi, I'm off working to Portadown tomorrow for 10 days. My mate informs me
that the hotel is over the road from the river Bann, which apparently is
superb for it's roach fishing. What I would like to know, is "Do they have a
close season in Ireland?"
Cheers, John

I'm reliably informed that in the South we don't...but we're not too sure
whether the North (where you're going) comes under the same as the rest of
the UK.

Sorry I can't be more helpful :o(

This implies there is no close season in N Ireland .... take a look and see
if you agree

"Fish to your heart's content all year round, choosing from scores of lakes,
rivers and canals that are among the least exploited fisheries in Europe"

Only assuming the tourist board have checked up on things like close
seasons...and not just put in a flowery sentence purely to encourage
visiting anglers

I will try and address suitable questions to those who *will* know ;o)

thanks for your replies. I have just got back and no, there isn't any close
season. Didn't get much chance to fish, just a couple of hours a few nights.
Didn't get one bite! I did take LIMITED amount of tackle with me though.
For anyone thinking of going over to fish the river Bann, I can highly
recommend this place to stay. www.bannview.co.uk
Gerald, the owner, takes great pride in looking after you and meeting all
your needs and requirements.
