Heading for Fort Myers in October

Heading for Fort Myers in October for four to five months for ocean fishing.
Is this a good choice and what type of boat should I purchase once I'm down
there?
I'm presently fishing off the Maine coast this summer using a 17 foot Trophy
with a 90 horse Honda.
