Does it get much Better?

Well weather was a little windy this morning and wasn't sure if the battery
would hold up so I decided not to go to the new Bigger lake today.

Instead my mind was set on one thing, catching the big bass that had
escaped me yesterday.

Fishing around the pads has been good, in fact it's been real good. My
strategy had not changed, my tackle selection however did. I spooled up some
new 30lb stren on my Shimano Scorpion and then paired that up with the 7
foot St Croix, pads and sticks were not going to be a determining factor for
losing fish today.

I get to the lake and go to tie on a buzz bait. I was there prior to
sunrise so I figured why not give it a shot, only I forgot to bring them. Oh
well, tie on a speedworm instead. I start buzzing around the pads and see a
small wake shoot out and follow the worm, I kill it 5 feet from the boat and
the line goes tight, set the hook and pull my first keeper a 13-14 incher.
Seems the pattern for the last few days is holding up.

I troll over to the next set of pads cast out and backlash, pick out the
tangle and start reeling up, I feel the weight, set the hook and another
decent bass comes up, but this one is like a wet sock, no fight whatsoever,
I lip it and realize why, hooked right through the eye. I get the hook out
and let it go.

I head back to the other side of the lake where the big fish spit my hook, I
catch a few dinks on the way on tiny brush hogs and a few pickerel on
speedworms. I get back to the dock area and start buzzing the speedworm, no
takers. I cast to the same dock where the big fish hit yesterday...nothing.
Troll about 15-20 feet down near a small brushpile, cast the speedowrm and a
huge wake follows it out, I kill it and the line goes tight, reel down set
the hook with everything I got and this monster fish is on, it pulls tight
and makes a few runs but is no match for the braid, pads were sheared and a
few moments later this beauty is in the boat. She weighs in just a little
over 6 pounds. Now I don't know if it was the same fish or not from
yesterday, but I'd like to believe that the score is tied up now. I hit a
few more good fish in the 3+ range, all on the brush hogs and all holding
tight to cover. Some pictures at a.b.p.f.

Oh I also had about 4 women flash me and a bunch or people yelling
LargeMouth!! Bass!!! Catch one for me!!! Unusual you say? Not when Nascar
is in town and the place your fishing is off the main road to the track.
Hooters and fish, does it get much better? Hope everyone had a great weekend

Wow! Great morning. We had a windy cold front come through that lasted for
three days. It was slow for us yesterday with our best fish only running
2.74. We still caught fish, but we had to slow way down and flip them out
of heavy heavy heavy cover. I just love to see all those fish pictures of
good fish.

Sounds good to me. I got double-skunked Friday, no bass, no flashers. :(
