novice needs help
 

Ok people...please don't jump on me because I am a novice fisherman with
some silly stupid questions.. I am a city boy who was introduced to the
joys of fishing by my wife a few years ago We now go to a resort in the
northwoods of Wisconsin every year (my wifes family has been going to this
resort since 1963!). for a week or two of fishing. I hold my own using
live bait (crawlers, minnows) and have caught many panfish, a couple of good
sized bass (18 inch or better) and even a good sized Northern Pike...but my
question is ...how do I set up my hook with artificial bait? I have never
caught anything on anything other than live bait. I have several plastic
worms in my tackle box, but I don't really know how to set them up right on
my hook. I tried what I thought was right over this last week, but it seems
that it didn't work. My wife (who I have to admit, is a better fisherman
than me) is no help here because she just likes to use the live bait, but I
want to try something different. My Father-in-law has taken me Musky
fishing, but he also uses live suckers, so no help there either. Is there a
web site that would help someone out like me...or could you lead me to a
book where I can see what I should do? Like I said, I am an old city boy
who didn't grow up fishing, so I never was taught these things that probably
kids all around know...but I don't. Thanks for helping

Go online and search for "Texas" and "Carolina" rigged plastic worms.

Practice catch and release

Check you state fish and game department. They usually have information and
some of them offer clinics.

First I would hate to imagine anyone giving you a hard time for being a
beginner and most people on here are very helpful and eager to give
great advise. I agree with the others, you can do a google on "texas
rig" or "carolina rig", which is the top two rigging methods for
plastic fishing. Myself I rarely have the patience for plastic fishing,
I stick mainly with crank baits and spinners.
