Treble Vs. Single Hook

I was doing fairly well getting trout to hit a 1/8 oz Kastmaster spoon. I
lost quite a few fish while reeling them in. On the ones that I did land,
the treble hook seemed to really tear up their mouth. I am considering
removing the treble hook and placing a smaller Siwash type hook in its
place. If this works, will exchange all the treble hooks on my spoons for
single hooks. Has any body experienced treble hooks tearing up the fish's
mouth? Any experience in trading hooks?

Thanks,
Rick

I've stopped using trable hooks for anything because of the damage they
do to the fish. As far as trading one for a single, never done it. If
you do, let us know how it works out, I have a few lures I'd like to try
out again if the single hook swap works well.

If you are really worried. Use barbless hooks.

Trading hooks will reduce the damage, it will also reduce the number of
fish hooked on the strike by about 15%

Speaking of trout fishing, I have developed a new way to fish for them
that is out preforming everything else, including live bait, in all head
to head test, it has been 5 to 1, it is a combination rig, lure, and
technique
