Time to warm up the camera
 

Lately when I've gone fishing, I've opted not to take the camera. After
my outing yesterday, I decided I have to make more of an effort to take
it along.

The Swift was down considerably, and gave me the opportunity to see the
"new" Swift after the heavy scouring and flushing it has received for
the last few months. It is like fishing a different river now that all
the deadfall and drifts have been relocated. I only fished from 6:00 AM
until 9:00 because of the rising air temperature. By 9:00 it was nearly
80 degrees F. and getting uncomfortable. The mosquitos were in full
force and out for blood. During the earliest hours of the outing, I saw
several heron, including a great blue. There was a deer drinking from
the river, and several merganser fishing their way upstream. I was able
to bring a nice 12" brookie to hand, as well as a small brown and a good
sized rainbow (trifecta!) There were sulphurs hatching and flittering
about. Any one of these sitings would have made a nice photo, and I was
sorry I missed the chance. Next week I may just go fishing with camera
instead of rod - at least to start. ;-)

Since acquiring a good digital camera, with a Supermacro setting, I've
been spending a lot of time photographing aquatic insects, flowers,
other wildlife like turtles and porcupines. Has doubled my flyfishing
outing pleasures. Don't forget a good protective pouch/bag for your
camera.

fish brought to hand. I hope we avoid heavy rainfall from Dennis, or
we'll be back to high water. They put up a flashboard on the spillway
to stop the flow, so Quabbin is full to the top plus a little bit.

Tried that new Cutters Advanced repellent, and it seemed to work about
as well as DEET. I looked for it unsuccessfully at sporting goods
stores, finally finding it at Big Y, of all places.

Colonoscopy tommorow....hope that closes this chapter and I can forget
about doctors for a while and get back to serious fishing.

If I consider every single aspect of my life to this point, there'd be no
question that drinking and purging that effing Super Colon Blow Juice
constituted the worst day of my life.

At this time it would appear Dennis is going to stay well west of us. I
have mixed feelings about that, as certain rivers I happen to enjoy a
lot fare better when summer water levels remain healthy. Not to mention
the regressive effect on tube traffic. More importantly, good luck
tomorrrow, George. "May the guy with the rubber glove be surprisingly
gentle."

If that was your worst day, you'd have hated some of mine. I found
the stuff to colon cleanser drink to be so ugly when mixed with orange
soda that it's been a bit over a month and I've not had an orange soda
since. Gack. I finally just mixed the stuff with warm water and
didn't try to disguise the taste. It wasn't _quite_ as bad that way.

Yep. Hope yours turns out to be as good a result as mine was. Well,
except for that one painful moment during the procedure. But the
drugs were good, so I just told the doctor in minimal terms about it
("Ouch! Damn!) and let myself drift away. The TV pics were
interesting when I could focus on them. However, the results were
very nice. Not even a polyp to disturb my mind.

Tell him, careful, you may be going where no mans gone before. I have a
Sony DSC 60-u. Nice digital camera. Waterproof to 5'. Hard to find, I do
not think Sony makes them anymore, but Wolfe Camera did carry them. About
$150.

Pentax has one, Optio WP, that is waterproof to 5'.
