close encounter with a boat

For those who don't know - the Chain O Lakes is in Northern IL and from
what I hear weekends are an absolute zoo with the watercraft.

Anywho, a recent 'incident'

Having been boating since I was a kid, and having the experience of sinking
in the Chesapeake near 7 foot knoll because of a retard I am extra careful
when boating. But, too many others arent. I boat in the Gulf of Mexico now
and spend a lot of time in the back bay, even there, you find boaters so out
of control its almost like running a demolition derby and trying not to get
hit. I am constantly fore-aft-starboard and port, looking looking and
looking for that one idiot whos gonna run me down. Every year I take a one
day boating course whether I need it or not, just to be safe and keep up,
everyone should be required to do the same before they go out in so much as
a dingy.
