fly fishing for whitefish

Who fishes for whitefish? Can anyone give advice on fly fishing for either
lake whitefish or mountain whitefish, flies, habitat, etc. Or do you know
any sites where I can learn more?

Thanks,

Yo. I just smoked a bunch. (No lame jokes, please.) Turned out great
with alder.

Mountain whitefish typically hang in schools near the deepest bottom end
of pools, and not in the faster water and the seams where you're more
likely to find trout. They don't spook easily. You can catch one after
another from the same school.

My method is deep dead-drift indicator nymph fishing. Hare's ears and
pheasant tails are my most effective flies.

Every whitefish I've caught and kept around here has a bellyfull of
cased caddis. Sometimes only the sand and little pebbles are left in the
stomach.
