any new news on the fishing in the galv bay?

I'm no pro but I did just get back from Galveston after 4 days of fishing.
Right now, night fishing is good for Specks on live shrimp from the piers.
Gafftops are a good size with mullet. Hardheads are always going to be a
nuisance as well as the sand sharks.

Redfish are spawning from now until mid-fall. I caught a 23" and a 28" off
of live shrimp at the North Jetties in Bolivar. Both were very early AM
catches. I was fishing the bayside as opposed to surfside.
If you have a boat, its a different story. I wish I could tell you, but I
just dream about boats...........and wave as they go by.

Also I have good luck catching baitfish with a Sabiki rig off of the piers.

I plan to try Sea Wolf park. They have a nice looking pier that extends well
into the Bay.

Check the Chronicle Sports section - there is a fishing report every
day. Good luck.
